BMX Riders Take Over Tuggeranong for Vikings ACT/NSW Freestyle Titles
On Saturday 2 February, BMX riders from across Australia’s east coast travelled to the Tuggeranong Skatepark, for the second annual Vikings ACT/NSW Freestyle BMX Titles.
The event saw competitors of all ages showcasing their skills in an action-packed day of high-flying tricks and fierce competition.
With riders as young as seven landing backflips and impressive transfers, the future of BMX was on full display. Every age category was fiercely contested, proving just how strong the sport is in Australia.
Among the standout athletes was elite women’s BMX star and former Canberran, Sarah Nicki. Now a member of the Australian Olympic team, Nicki demonstrated the skills that have taken her to the world stage, dominating the Elite Women’s category. Beyond her own performance, she also spent time encouraging up-and-coming riders, offering support and inspiration to the next generation.
The Elite Men’s competition delivered a thrilling showdown, with reigning champion Will Spedding going head-to-head against Victorian challenger Nathan Freman. In a race that came down to a single point, with Nathan claiming the gold and bragging rights as 2025 Elite Men State Champion.
Vikings is proud to have been the naming sponsor, bringing together talent from across the region and celebrating the sport’s ongoing growth.
